Race number five of the 52@52 challenge is done, this time turning a simple run from home into a family meetup at the Google “Café @ Mountain View.” Once again, it mixed everyday routines with the joy of moving, sharing the miles with friends and family.
Route and destination
For this race, the route went from home straight to the Google Café located inside the Google facilities in Mountain View. The café is already a familiar stop from past bike rides, with plenty of outdoor seating, good food at fair prices, and a relaxed vibe that feels perfect after a workout.

Family meetup at the café
At the finish, Laura joined in, along with Marcelo’s wife and daughter, transforming the end of the run into a small family gathering instead of just a solo cooldown. Sharing the post‑run time with them made this stop at the café feel even more special than the usual ride‑day visits.

Running with Marcelo
The highlight of the outing was the second half of the route, when the run turned social as Marcelo Lavrador joined for the remaining miles. That shared stretch is captured in the 360‑degree video, giving a fun perspective on running and talking together toward the café.
Perfect running weather
The weather helped a lot: cool temperatures, mostly shaded paths, and just enough sunshine to light up the bay views along the way. Those small patches of sun made the water and surrounding scenery look even better without overheating the run.
Body check: left win, right concern
From a body‑condition standpoint, the big positive news is that the left leg did not hurt at all this time, which felt amazing after the issues in previous runs. On the other hand, the right leg—especially around and behind the knee—started the day already a bit sore when walking in the morning, stayed uncomfortable through the race, and became more painful afterward.
By the next morning, the right knee and different areas of the right leg were hurting quite a lot, easing only a bit after stretching and moving around. This is a concern going forward, so the plan from here is to address strength, mobility, and recovery for the right leg to reduce the risk of this pain showing up again in the next runs.
