Romantic ride-along
Today’s run had a special twist — my wife joined me again, riding her bike alongside as we followed the Coyote Creek Trail, turning it into a sweet little extension of Valentine’s Day together. 🥰❤️😍
New parking and route
I found a super convenient parking spot just off Silver Creek Valley Road (map link), then ran about a quarter of the distance north, half to the south, and finished with the last quarter back north to end right where we started.
Knees, calves, and shoes
The best part: I didn’t feel my right knee at all, and my left calf complained even less than last time, which makes me believe I’m on the right path with this training cycle and recovery. I wore my Altra Rivera 3 again even though their soles are pretty beaten up, and I’m planning to test my brand new Altra Escalante 4 on some short runs this week before trusting them in a half-marathon.
In case you’re planning to buy a pair of Altra shoes, you can sign in to Capital One Shopping (link: https://capitaloneshopping.com/…/7b2bc1de-d58d-454f…) and take advantage of their on-going deal where you get $60 back
if you buy more than $100 at Altra website.
Perfect running weather
The weather was perfect for running at around 13°C with mostly cloudy skies, just a few light raindrops that never really got us wet on the trail. We even managed to drive most of the way home with the Miata hard top down before the rain picked up and I had to close it.
Dual-wrist data nerding
For the data fun, I ran with both a Google Pixel Watch 4 on my left wrist and a Garmin Venu 2 Plus on my right, so I’ll be able to compare their charts from this same run. I’m planning to put together a dedicated review page soon to compare how both watches track these 52@52 runs.
